An Overview

1. Admission into the autumn session of the PhD Programme of Gauhati University for the academic session 2025-2026 (August, 2025 to July, 2026) is a three tier process.
•The Central Application Process(CAP).

2. Completing the CAP DOES NOT guarantee admission into the PhD Programme.

3. All applicants, (if you are an International student, please visit IRW (the International Relations Wings), MUST go through the CAP, irrespective of any fellowship they might have either through any scheme or any research project (see below for exemptions). The CAP will be facilitated through this website with a dedicated SAMRTH Portal.

B.A., LL.B. /B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) & LL.B. (Three-Year)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: :
• B.A.,LL.B./B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.)(Five-Year Integrated): Applicants should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board with a minimum percentage of marks not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicants, 42% of the total marks in case of OBC/MOBC category applicants and 40% of the total marks in case of SC, ST category applicants.
• LL.B.(Three-Year):A degree (graduation) in any discipline or any equivalent qualification from a recognized University with a minimum percentage of marks not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicants, 42% of the total marks in case of OBC/MOBC category applicants and 40% of the total marks in case of SC, ST category applicants.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION:
• Before submission of the online application form, ensure the minimum eligibility criteria.
•Eligibility criteria will be verified at the time of admission. A candidate can’t claim a seat without fulfilling the eligibility criteria though his/her name appears in the merit list prepared by Gauhati University.
•Application and Entrance Examination Fee: Rs.1000+Bank Transaction Charge, if any
