IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
During Application, in the Select Programme/s, select Bachelor (Under-Graduate Programmes) at the Programme Level and select Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) in the Programme.
Eligibility: (As per NCTE norms)
A candidate may be allowed to appear in the GUBEDCET-2025 provided that he/she has passed the BA/BSc/B.Com or MA/MSc/M.Com or equivalent degree programme from a recognised Board / University with at least 50% marks (or 45% marks SC/ST/OBC/PWD).
Eligibility criteria will be verified by the respective colleges/institution before admission. A candidate can’t claim a seat without fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NCTE though his/her name appears in the merit list prepared by Gauhati University. College/Institution will be responsible for such anomalies detected later on.
Application and Entrance Examination Fee: Rs.2000+Bank Transaction Charge, if any.

PhD admission Autumn Session 2025-26
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
Categories of Eligible Applicants:
• The UGC-JRF and CSIR-JRF qualified candidates (Category-1) with one year validity are admitted into the Ph.D. programme based on the percentile of the candidate subject to fulfilling the other eligibility conditions as per the Gauhati University Ph.D. Regulations, 2023.
• The UGC-NET and CSIR-NET candidates who qualified for appointment as Assistant Professor (Category-2) and those who qualified for Admission to Ph.D. only (Category-3) will be admitted giving 70% weightage on the NET scores and 30% weightage on the interview for admission to Ph.D. programmes. The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce; provided that the marks obtained in the UGC-NET and CSIR-NET by the candidates in categories 2 and 3 will be valid for a period of one year for admission to the Ph. D. programme.
• GURET 2025 shall be conducted for the departments of GU whose vacancies for the Ph.D. programme could not be filled up because of (a) lack of UGC-NET and CSIR- NET qualified candidates or (b) the subject being outside the scope/list of UGC CSIR list of subjects in which the NET is conducted; provided that the Department concerned shall hold the GURET at the department level with a minimum of 60% of marks allotted to multiple choice (MCQs)/objective questions.
Eligible Criterion:
• Any person having a Postgraduate Degree or its equivalent, of GU or any recognized university/institute with not less than 55 (fifty-five) percent of marks or equivalent grade in the concerned subject may apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the subject in which the candidate has the Master’s Degree or in a subject recognized by the respective department as its allied subject which will not be vice-a-versa for consideration by respective Departmental Research Committee (DRC) or Faculty Research Committee (FRC).
The minimum marks for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates or a differently-abled candidate (with equal to or more than 40% disability) is 50% or equivalent grade. A relaxation in respect of eligibility criteria in terms of marks shall be applied as per applicable rules and regulations of Govt. of Assam.
• In case of any special eligibility conditions or deviations from the above generic eligibility conditions, concerned DRC may submit the proposal to the Academic Registrar for consideration and necessary approval from the Vice Chancellor.
• In case of Medical Sciences, the rules of Medical Council of India/Indian Nursing Council/Rehabilitation Council of India/ recommendation of Faculty of Medicine for Clinical Courses shall be followed (where necessary).
• Students who have appeared or are appearing in their postgraduate final examinations may also apply for admission into the Ph.D. Programme. However, such candidates will be required to furnish their results before the final selection list of successful applicants is prepared by the concerned department.
