Ph.D. Admission (Autumn Session) through GURET: 2026-2027

Applications are invited for admission into the Ph.D. Programme (Autumn Session 2026-2027) through the Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test (GURET 2026).

Application Fee

1. Application Fee is Rs.1500/- per subject plus applicable bank transaction charges. The application fee is non-refundable.
2. Applicants must complete the Central Application Process (CAP) through the SAMARTH Admission Portal . Payment must be made online. Without successful payment, candidates will not be eligible to appear in GURET.

Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of:

1. GURET 2026 Examination
2. Departmental Counselling after qualifying GURET. Final Merit: 60% GURET + 40% Counselling.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Programmes Offered by Gauhati University

1. Any person having a Postgraduate Degree (or equivalent) from Gauhati University or any recognized University with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in the concerned subject may apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the subject in which the candidate has the Master’s Degree or in a subject recognized by the respective department as its allied subject which may not be vice-a-versa for consideration by respective Departmental Research Committee (DRC) or Faculty Research Committee (FRC).
2. Minimum qualifying marks for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Differently Abled candidates (40% disability or above) is 50%.
3. Relaxation in eligibility shall follow Government of Assam rules.
4. Special eligibility conditions proposed by Departments may be approved by the Vice Chancellor.
5. For Medical Sciences, MCI/INC/RCI and Faculty of Medicine regulations shall apply.
6. Candidates appearing in the final postgraduate examination may also apply. They must submit their final results before preparation of the final selection list.

Eligibility Criteria for LGBRIMH, Tezpur

• Clinical Psychology
  Two-year Master's Degree in Applied Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Psychological Counselling or Psychology with at least 55% marks and M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology.
• Psychiatric Nursing
  M.Sc. in Psychiatric Nursing with minimum 60% aggregate marks from UGC/INC recognized institution.
• Psychiatric Social Work
  MSW or M.A. in Social Work along with M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work with minimum 55% marks.
